Acquisition creates UK's largest trade association for florists
British Florist Association acquires Society of Floristry to create UK's largest independent trade association for florists.
The British Florist Association's purchase of the Society of
Floristry has created the UK's largest independent trade
association for florists.
The new trade body now controls more florists in the UK than any
other group, with membership rising from 700 to 3,200, according to
the Birmingham Post.
As well as being the largest such setup in the UK, the group is
also the second biggest in Europe.
President Mark Ward said the acquisition would allow for the
group to increase its revenue stream via subscriptions and
subsequently allow it to provide a better service to the floristry
He told the news provider: "We rely solely on our membership
subscriptions for funding so this acquisition will further
strengthen our position in the industry enabling us to support
florists with business advice through our manned helpline.
"[We will also be able to] lobby government on important issues
such as increases in business rates."
