Birmingham Chamber of Commerce completes merger
The Birmingham Chambers of Commerce has merged with Southern Staffordshire.
The Birmingham Chambers of Commerce has completed its merger
with Southern Staffordshire.
The successful completion of negotiations has created one of the
largest organisations in the sector in the country, now holding
3,200 members, according to the Birmingham Post.
Scope for mergers within the sector has been strong in recent
months following the fallout of the recession and the implications
the downturn had on businesses within the industry.
Indeed, rumours are afloat that Birmingham and the Black Country
could soon enter into merger negotiations.
Birmingham president Paul Bassi said that the completion of the
deal would herald positives for all parties involved.
He told the news provider: "The merger is a significant change
in the history of Birmingham and Southern Staffs chambers. And it
is a win-win move for everyone."
Mr Bassi added that Birmingham would win as it would "now carry
more weight", while the benefit for South Staffordshire would be
joining "one of the biggest and most influential" chambers in the
UK while retaining its local identities.
