Orange signs broadband deal with BT

Orange and BT have agreed a deal regarding broadband services.

16 April 2010

Orange and BT have concluded negotiations on a deal that will see the mobile phone giant use BT's fixed-line network.

The mobile services provider, which recently merged with T-mobile to form the UK's largest business in the sector, has signed the deal in order to increase its high speed broadband capabilities, according to the Press Association.

Having originally spent hundreds of millions of pounds on developing its own infrastructure, the firm decided to enlist the services of BT in order to focus on the quality of its product and its customer services.

An Orange spokesman told the news provider: "Whilst we have made massive improvements to our network over the past two years, with our new leadership position in the UK market, we don't just want to provide a good customer experience - we want it to be exceptional."

The results of the negotiations mean BT will adopt Orange's infrastructure into its own, with 61 of the latter's staff members moving company.
