Boot camps teach negotiation skills

University students can learn key skills at PwC training days

07 July 2010

University students can learn key negotiation skills at a series of training events run by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC).

The financial advisory firm is currently running its five-day boot camps for first-year students keen to boost their employability.

Participants are given directorial roles at a fictitious transport business and must handle rising oil prices, trade union negotiations and supply chain disruption.

Sonja Stockton, director of talent resourcing, claimed students will learn invaluable skills while attending the workshop.

She said: "It's a chance for students to learn negotiation skills, building professional relationships and finding appropriate solutions, which are skills required for a successful business career."

Successful candidates can undertake a summer internship at the firm, with 95 per cent of participants offered jobs upon completion of the programme.

PwC received 58 per cent more applications to the boot camps compared to 2009.
