New course could improve negotiation skills
Nottingham Law School (NLS) unveils new course for trademark lawyers
Nottingham Law School (NLS) has launched a new course which aims
to improve student's negotiation skills.
The institution has formed a partnership with the Institute of
Trademark Attorneys (ITMA) to create the Professional Certificate
in Trademark Practice.
In addition to perfecting their negotiation skills, candidates
will be taught how to interview clients, professional ethics and
conduct and contract drafting.
Course leader Jane Jarman claimed trademark lawyers are now
required to have negotiation training as their role involves more
She said: "They must interact with business colleagues and with
clients to a much greater extent, and, to that end, students need
to be equipped with the skills to do this successfully."
The training will cover many of the legal aspects taught to
fellow professionals such as solicitors and barristers.
A transitional course for eligible students will start later
this year with the full course available in 2011.
