That is according to Reuters, which notes that cash-rich
hardware and software companies are looking to position themselves
for economic recovery and growth in new markets.
Among the deals currently in negotiation are Hewlett Packard's
proposed acquisition of smartphone specialist Palm and SAP AG's
move to snap up database firm Sybase.
Speaking to the news provider, Paul Parker, head of global
mergers and acquisition at Barclays Capital, explained that all of
the top technology firms are currently involved in
"Tech deals have been on the rise thanks to cash build-up at
many of the big companies.
"There is transformational activity being worked on or announced
already in every sector."
Last week, mobile giants Orange and T-Mobile announced details
of the merger between the two firms, which has resulted in the
creation of a new brand name Everything Everywhere.
