Booker completes sales negotiations with two catering firms

Cash and carry wholesaler purchases Ritter-Courivaud and Classic Drinks

14 October 2010

UK cash and carry wholesaler Booker has completed sales negotiations with two catering firms, it has been revealed.

Booker has acquired fine foods supplier Ritter-Courivaud for £14.5 million and drinks wholesaler Classic Drinks in a £4 million deal.

"It is intended that each of Ritter and Classic will continue to operate under their existing management teams and brands, as part of Booker Direct, complementing Booker's offering to caterers in the UK", said Booker in a statement.

"We do not expect these acquisitions to have a material impact on earnings in the year to March 2011."

The group also announced a rise in profits for the first nine months of the year, with pre-tax revenues hitting £36.9 million, an increase of £7.2 million compared to the same period last year.

Booker operates around 170 branches throughout the UK, supplying goods to convenience stores, pubs, restaurants, schools and prisons.
