Eurotunnel workers contemplate going on strike
French workers for Eurotunnel may be going on strike this Saturday (August 27th).
Eurotunnel passengers could be facing disruptions as the threat of industrial action looms over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Workers for the company in France are demanding an eight per cent pay rise and strike negotiations have so far failed to come to an agreement between the unions and employers.
Because of the apparent risk of a walkout, Eurotunnel - which recently won its seventh consecutive green flag for efforts to preserve the environment - has postponed taking any more bookings.
A spokesman said: "We have been notified of possible strike action and are now taking all steps possible to mitigate any disruption should it go ahead."
He added they hope to "offer a full service" even if people take to the picket line, but union bargaining may well take place.
With people in the UK off work on Monday (August 29th), the weekend is expected to be busy as families look to get away.
