Merger and acquisitions consultants heavily used in 2011?
There has been a lot of merger and acquisitions activity in the technology and telecommunications industry in 2011.
Merger and acquisitions (M&A) consultants have been busy in 2011 so far.
This is because research carried out by Dealogic and reported by the Financial Times has found activity in the M&A field has returned to pre-recession levels in the technology and telecommunications industry.
The first eight months of the year saw a 19 per cent increase in terms of agreements - the value being $323.3 billion (£196.4 billion) - when compared with the same time period 12 months previously.
Kurt Simon, co-head of technology, media and telecommunications at JP Morgan - which has clients in over 100 countries - said: "The pace of change has accelerated and that is creating bolder activity. A lot of this is being driven by changes in the mobile market and cloud computing."
He continued by saying firms are looking to mergers as a way of transforming their portfolios, as many of their core businesses are "under duress".
