Fujifilm to acquire Merck
Fujifilm is to acquire the Merck BioManufacturing Network.
Fujifilm corporation and Merck have been locked in sales negotiations that have resulted in the former announcing that it is to acquire the Merck BioManufacturing Network - a provider of contract manufacturing and development services for the biopharmaceutical industry.
Shigetaka Komori, president and chief executive officer at Fujifilm, said his company is continuing its ongoing commitment in the sector.
The industry figure noted: "This acquisition provides an important addition to our pharmaceutical business with diverse capabilities and technical expertise in production of protein therapeutics."
President of Merck Manufacturing Division Willie Deese said the Merck BioManufacturing Network is one of the world leaders in the field and added the transaction sees his firm become a key customer that will benefit from the expertise and experience of the two parties.
Fujifilm Corporation was established in 2006 and operates the imaging and information businesses that used to be run by Fuji Photo Film - now known as Fujifilm Holdings Corporation.
