Sales negotiations underway between legal firms
Sales negotiations are currently taking place between north-west legal firm Weightmans and rival company Mace & Jones.
Legal company Weightmans has revealed that sales negotiations with north-west business Mace & Jones are currently underway.
Patrick Gaul, managing partner at Weightmans, asserted that the move could result in a "complementary, synergetic firm", reports the Liverpool Daily Post.
"We act in similar sectors. They do things that we are not good at and we have things to offer them," he commented.
According to Mr Gaul, his organisation is looking to finalise the merger as soon as possible, adding that he hopes the deal will be done within the first half of 2011.
He highlighted the fact that a merger could create a more efficient organisation, although he would not rule out the possibility that there will be job cuts as a result.
Weightmans also revealed that sales negotiations for a potential deal with Vizards Wyeth, a small legal company based in the south-east, are also taking place at the moment.
This comes after experts suggested commercial lender CapitalSource might be seeking a potential buyer and that JPMorgan Chase has been hired to provide advice on the sale.
