Strike negotiations 'avert action' by ITV staff
ITV staff have agreed not to take industrial action and earlier this week settled on a three per cent increase in pay.
Following strike negotiations, ITV employees are set to receive a three per cent pay increase in 2011.
The workers agreed not to take industrial action after members of Bectu, Unite and the National Union of Journalists voted to accept the offer.
According to media and entertainment union Bectu, the rise was approved by its members by a margin of four to one.
Originally, the trade unions had demanded an increase of 4.5 per cent in pay but following strike negotiations they settled on a three per cent rise after the broadcasting company claimed its outlook for this year is still uncertain.
In addition to the wage rise - which is set to start on January 1st 2011 - £120 in shares and £180 in cash will also be received by employees, subject to eligibility rules.
Bectu aims to help its 25,000 members to negotiate improvements in pay, conditions and contracts as well as providing advice and representation for individuals.
