Busy summer for merger and acquisition consultants?
The summer months bring more speculation about merger and acquisition activity.
Merger and acquisition consultants may be busy in the coming months.
This is because Nick Raynor, investment adviser at The Share Centre, observed there is a lot of speculation about activity in this field during the summer.
He noted takeovers are one way to boost the share price of a company and in this situation, shareholders have a decision to make about whether to hold onto their shares or not.
"We suggest more cautious investors take a cooling-off period once a profit warning is issued to allow a settling of the share price as it can continue to fall," Mr Raynor observed
As well as this, the specialist remarked when business negotiations are taking place, people should be aware that they may not always lead to a quick profit.
It recently noted that United Utilities has performed well for its income investors, with the total dividend coming in at 30p per share.
