Express Scripts to merge with Medco Health Solutions
An agreement has been reached for a $29.1 billion deal for Express Scripts to take over Medco Health Solutions.
Express Scripts has announced that business negotiations have been completed on a deal to merge with Medco Health Solutions.
The agreement is expected to cost $29.1 million (£18 million) and it will see two major players in US healthcare management come together.
George Paz, chairman and chief executive officer of Express Scripts, noted the move is at "the right time for the right reasons".
"Companies like ours have a responsibility to provide the leadership and resources required to drive out waste in healthcare and provide the best care in the world," he added.
Mr Paz continued by saying this development will ensure US residents will not have to pay large amounts of money for their prescriptions.
According to Express Scripts - a company that has been running since 1986 - the merger with Medco Health Solutions, which may have required negotiation skill, will allow the two groups to complement each other.
