Negotiation strategies to see Bidvest sell part of business?

The company Bidvest is considering selling off its Foodservice Business.

07 July 2011

Bidvest may require negotiation strategies in the future as it has revealed a number of "unsolicited proposals" have been made in regard to its Foodservice Business.

The industrial services, trading and distribution company is likely to accept a deal of around $4 billion (£2.5 billion) for this arm of the firm.

According to the organisation, Foodservice represents an "attractive business" for those who are considering launching an acquisition bid.

It remains to be seen whether negotiation techniques will be needed in order to reach a resolution.

Mark Hodgson, an analyst at Avior Research, said: "Ultimately, they were looking to separate it out of Bidvest one way or another and this certainly is quite a good option they have to look at seriously."

Bidvest added it intends to carry out a strategic review of the operations of Foodservice Business to decide whether or not any of the potential deals would be acceptable to shareholders.
