Greece government to seek strike negotiations?

The country's transport network will be stalled by nationwide strikes.

28 June 2011

Strike negotiations are required in Greece after another round of industrial action was announced.

There are set to be major disruptions to the transfer network due to the protests taking place today (June 28th) and tomorrow.

According to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, flights from 08:00-12:00 and 18:00-22:00 local time have had to be cancelled for both days because of the problems.

As well as this, a 48-hour suspension is in place at ports and railways.

The metro system and bus network in Athens is also set to close down at various times across the two days, which means getting around the city will be tricky.

Greek nationals are taking to the picket line in protest at the latest round of austerity measures being introduced by the government.

Trade unions have already gone to Syntagma Square in Athens to voice their disapproval with the course of action adopted by those in power.
