Oracle completes takeover of Pillar Data Systems

The deal means Oracle can now offer a full line of storage products.

29 June 2011

Computer company Oracle has completed a business negotiation deal that will see it buy Pillar Data Systems.

The reason behind the agreement is that it allows Oracle to offer a complete line of storage products for the first time.

John Fowler, executive vice-president of systems at the company, added the link-up means the organisation can now boast a "compelling SAN storage architecture that complements our core strengths".

"Customers can optimise the value of their Oracle applications, database, middleware and operating system software by running on Oracle's storage solutions," he added.

Mike Workman, chairman and chief executive officer at Pillar Data Systems, is delighted by the announcement and is looking forward to benefiting from the size and scale of Oracle.

It comes after Rosendin Electric - the largest privately held electrical contractor in the United States - revealed it is to start using Oracle SOA Suite 11g as it seeks to automate its procure-to-pay system.
