Intel acquires McAfee
Intel Corporation has announced the acquisition of McAfee.
Sales negotiations have resulted in Intel Corporation announcing that its acquisition of McAfee is now complete.
The two parties are hoping the effects of the pairing will begin to show benefits later this year when they attempt to broach the subject of internet security in a new way.
McAfee - which is to carry on developing and selling security products under its own brand - and Intel claimed current approaches are not adequate to take into account the billions of new internet-enabled devices on the market.
These include PCs, wireless technology, mobile phones and even cash machines - and the duo think security needs to take advantage of all available software to crack down on cyber threats.
Renee James, senior vice-president and general manager at Intel, said the acquisition "brings incredibly talented people focused on delivering products and services that help make connecting to the mobile internet safer and more secure".
Intel claims to be a 'sponsor of tomorrow' - achieving this through its efforts in regards to education, sustainability and healthcare.
