Business negotiations news: Cisco and Living PlanIT announce alliance
A partnership has been formed between Cisco and Living PlanIT.
Business negotiations between Cisco and Living PlanIT have resulted in an alliance being formed.
The two have agreed to team up to create a range of new business models for city management via the use of next-generation networking technology.
As part of the agreement, the pair aim to make PlanIT Valley in Portugal the biggest sustainable development in Europe.
Similarly, Cisco technology will be used to create the site's network infrastructure and in the creation of the Global Innovation Centre there.
The plan was welcomed by Steve Lewis, chief executive officer for Living PlanIT, who claimed the products of research will become "critical enablers" in environment markets around the world.
"Today's announcement validates PlanIT Valley as the world centre for research and development of urban technologies," he said.
Last month, phone specialist Nokia and software giant Microsoft agreed to pair up with the aim of creating a global mobile ecosystem.
