IBM completes sales negotiations with Q1 Labs
The company has agreed a deal to takeover Q1 Labs.
IBM is to acquire Q1 Labs after sales negotiations between the two parties were completed.
The latter will join the newly-formed IBM Security Systems division once the agreement has been closed and it will be led by Brendan Hannigan, the current chief executive officer of Q1 Labs - which was set up in 2001.
By securing the takeover, IBM is accelerating the intelligent solutions it can offer its customers, as it seeks to protect them from cyber crimes.
Mr Hannigan observed: "IBM is in a unique position to shift security thinking to an integrated, predictive approach. Q1 Labs' security analytics will add greater intelligence to IBM's security portfolio."
Robert LeBlanc, senior vice-president at IBM Middleware Software, observed the deal will realign expertise at the company so there is more emphasis placed on analytics.
At present, IBM monitors 12 billion safety events every day in over 130 countries across 3,000 security patents.
