Phototron Holdings buys SG Technologies

SG Technologies has merged with Phototron Holdings.

10 April 2012

California-based hydroponic growing company Phototron Holdings has completed its merger with LED-lighting manufacturer SG Technologies.

This should complement Phototron's online and sales initiatives for its products and help customers receive "significant financial savings, convenience and quality", the firm claimed.

Sterling Scott, newly-appointed chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Phototron, said the combination will create a "true leader in the indoor horticulture industry".

He said he is looking forward to implementing a number of corporate initiatives and strategic growth opportunities, which will enhance stockholder value and benefit the brand's loyal customers.

In 2011, Phototron achieved an annual growth in sales of 11 per cent, while significantly cutting overheads in the final six months of the year.

The enterprise was set up more than 20 years ago and enables members of the public to grow their own crops indoors, enabling the cultivation of fruit, flowers, vegetables, herbs and medicines without the use of pesticides.
