Unite and LMH 'should engage in union negotiations'
People have signed a petition calling for Unite and LMH to engage in discussions.
Thousands of people have signed a petition calling on Liverpool Mutual Homes (LMH) to engage in union negotiations with Unite.
This follows claims from the trade group alleging that LMH subsidiary Housing Maintenance Solutions is behaving in an "appalling" manner towards its workers.
Unite regional secretary Paul Finegan suggested that employees have been made redundant and then rehired by LMH a number of weeks later.
"Disowning workers you know you will employ in a matter of weeks is - we believe - appalling and not the way we expect employers of this great city to act," he stated.
Although Unite has proposed meeting the LMH board to engage in union bargaining and business discussions, this has not yet occurred.
The trade organisation argued that LMH has indicated that it would prefer to engage in litigation instead of talk to representatives from the union.
Earlier this year, national officer for Unite Peter Allenson claimed: "The only award LMH deserves is the UK's worst employer."
