06 February 2012

Negotiation consultants could be needed by McGrigors, as it has confirmed it is to merge with Pinsent Masons following a vote of partners.

The combined firm will operate under Pinsent Masons' brand and name.

More than 2,500 individuals will be employed by the enterprise, including at least 1,500 lawyers.

While 500 of these people will be based in the City of London, the corporation will have global operations and market-leading coverage within the UK.

It would be the 12th-largest legal practice in the UK and one of the top 50 biggest companies in the sector internationally.

McGrigors' managing partner Richard Masters said: "We believe that the new firm will provide a solid platform for growth, allowing us to become a clear market-leader in strategically key sectors."

He called the merger "great news" for the customer base of both enterprises and expressed his delight at the decision.

The companies revealed they were in talks about a possible merger in January.
