Merger between Sweet Charity and Caravan confirmed
Sweet Charity and Caravan have confirmed they are to merge.
Caravan and Sweet Charity are to merge, it has been announced.
The two organisations have confirmed they will combine their operations later this year.
Sweet Charity is a confectionary trade group and Caravan operates for the grocery sector, so a merger between the two bodies would result in help for the 4,500 individuals the groups currently assist.
Merger and acquisition consultants are now being used and it is thought when the organisations have become a single charity, they will be able to offer support in a more efficient and effective manner.
Caravan director-general Gillian Barker asked supporters to back the bodies during the integration.
"Until the merger is complete, both charities will work together to better understand how they can make the most of their strengths," she added.
Communications director for Caravan Jenny Fryatt told FoodManufacture.co.uk the join up would mean the groups can "work together to create a bigger and better charity".
