Merger announced between Carlson and Rezidor Hotel Group

Carlson and the Rezidor Hotel Group are to operate together under one name.

19 January 2012

Travel and hospitality firm Carlson and the Rezidor Hotel Group may have recently hired merger and acquisition consultants, as they have announced the establishing of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

Irrespective of geographical location, commercial activities conducted by the companies will be under this name.

The group will also pursue strategies involving the development of its revenue generation and purchasing opportunities, as well as management and alignment of the brands.

It now has more than 1,300 hotels in its portfolio stretching across 80 different countries.

Carlson chief executive officer and president Hubert Joly noted the two enterprises have a "long, common history and have grown together for the past 17 years".

"Going to market as one is a next and natural step," he added, claiming the group will leverage the strengths of the two businesses in order to "create value for all our stakeholders".

Carlson also owns a majority stake in Carlson Wagonlit Travel, a company that delivers solutions for corporate transport and events management.
