Pinsent Masons and McGrigors outline possible merger
McGrigors and Pinsent Masons have confirmed they are in merger talks.
Negotiation techniques could be used by law firm McGrigors, as it has confirmed it is in merger talks with Pinsent Masons.
This would result in the creation of the UK's 12th-largest practice, which would be among the top 50 in the world, with annual turnover reaching £282 million.
It would have at least 350 partners, 1,260 lawyers and 14 offices stretching across the nation.
In a joint statement, the companies claimed they are looking into how they can give their clients a "wide range of legal services" and ways delivery can be improved.
The merger would give them both a "strong platform" to build global growth on, it continued.
Both of the businesses "complement each other well" and are leaders in the fields of infrastructure, energy and construction, the organisations added.
By 2013, McGrigors intends to be viewed as a "renowned powerhouse" in these industries and to be seen to be a national law company.
