Axept AG and Webcall GmbH to join up

Swisscom has announced a tie-up between Webcall GmbH and Axept AG.

05 March 2012

Merger and acquisition advisors might have provided assistance during the merging of Axept AG and Webcall GmbH.

The two organisations are subsidiaries of Swisscom and employ 120 people in total, but the combination of the entities will not impact jobs.

Managing director of the firm will be Daniel Staehelin and it is thought a join-up of the two brands could enable Swisscom to boost its position in the unified collaboration and communications software sector through the operation and engineering of these solutions.

"Together we can have a stronger presence on the market and offer our customers even more targeted solutions, all from one source," Mr Staehelin stated.

Furthermore, the join-up is expected to support the advancement and expansion of existing operations Swisscom is engaged in within the sector.

In the future, the enterprise intends to connect 3,000 dwellings in the Swiss municipality of Derendingen to a fibre-optic network, through collaboration with municipal water and electricity business EWD.
