Resolution Health merges with NIMAS
Resolution Health has merged with the National Independent Medical Aid Society.
Resolution Health has completed a merger with the National Independent Medical Aid Society (NIMAS).
Merger and acquisition advisors have been given approval by the Council for Medical Schemes for the transaction and it means the new firm is now one of the key industry leaders in South Africa.
Mark Arnold, principal officer for Resolution Health, noted the deal has "significantly increased [the] market share, financial position and long-term sustainability" of the company.
As a result of the merger, 16,300 former NIMAS members have now moved across to Resolution Health, which now has a beneficiary base of over 86,000 and is in the top ten largest open medical schemes in South Africa
In 2011, Resolution Health was able to buck a trend that saw negative growth across the industry by recording a 20.8 per cent increase in member numbers and it is hoped this move will further strengthen its position.
